WHAT IS TRANSFORMATION YOGA?

Transformation Hatha Yoga is a gentle practice to help nourish, love and accept our bodies, to listen to them and discover how to promote and sustain our health.

Each class is designed to tone and strengthen the body, to release physical and mental tension and develop concentration, self-awareness and harmony within. Students are encouraged to move gently and slowly, co-ordinating the breath and the movement which brings them towards stillness and peace.

With Transformation Yoga we begin from wherever that may be for each person.  There is no call for over-exertion, straining the body or competing with others. Everyone is welcome, just as they are.

WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

This is a complete system of Yoga and can help in many ways including:- 

  • Improved posture so that all movements can be more graceful and confident aiding physical wellbeing. 
  • Enhanced breathing.  Exercises are given which deepen and expand the breathing capacity. 
  • The circulatory and lymph systems work more efficiently. 
  • Back pain can be helped through the increased flexibility and strengthening of the spine and neck, as well as the building up of the supporting muscular systems. 
  • Joints and muscles are worked with to enhance movement and strength. 
  • Energy levels are greatly helped with an increased overall sense of wellbeing and health. 
  • For those suffering the effects of stress or depression an uplifting of energy and spirit can be felt. 
  • States of anxiety and negative thinking patterns can be alleviated as the practice enables a stilling of the mind and feelings of relaxation and peace. 
  • Tension can be removed from all levels through moving with awareness, paying particular attention to the spine and posture.   

As Transformation Hatha Yoga works on all levels its effects can be profound and bring a deep sense of peace and wellbeing.   

WHO CAN BENEFIT? 

  • Transformation Hatha Yoga is suitable for all ages, male and female.
  • As the postures are adapted to meet the individual needs of students, those who are not accustomed to physical exercise can start from that point, and build a level of fitness suitable for them. 
  • Those who have experience of Yoga can go more deeply and develop their practice. 
  • The classes can be taught on a one-to-one basis or in a group. 

Pregnancy classes are also available.  These sessions help maintain general fitness, enhancing strength and flexibility.  As a preparation for birth they enable a greater level of ease and help reduce stress and anxiety.  The beauty and harmony of the pregnancy can be enhanced and experienced more fully.  Women are able to more fully access their own inner awareness of their needs at this important time. 

WHAT DOES A ONE-TO-ONE SESSION INVOLVE? 

A lesson would be tailored to meet the individual needs of the person taking into account any physical or emotional conditions.  The session would concentrate on a balanced practice including posture, breathing, the asanas as well as a full relaxation period.
