Mary is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and a Birthlight Baby Yoga Instructor to parents. She has further training in massage for babies with additional needs and in massage with preterm infants. Mary is a huge believer in the benefits of both massage and yoga for health and wellbeing, and feels that these benefits apply as equally to babies as they do to adults - it is never too early to start and the foundation we lay for our babies will affect them throughout their lives.

Having trained with Kirsty Hawthorn, International Trainer with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), Mary qualified as an instructor in 2007. She completed a course in 2010 with Ewa Westman (Swedish International Trainer with IAIM), on “Massage for Babies with Additional Needs”. In 2011 she took an educational training workshop entitled “The Preterm Infant: The NICU Experience and Beyond”. This workshop was specifically designed for Infant Massage Instructors by Cherry Bond, Positive Touch Specialist Neonatal Nurse from St. Mary’s Hospital in London.

Working with babies and parents as a baby massage instructor enabled Mary to train with Birthlight to become a Baby Yoga Instructor in 2011. This means that she is now able to lead parents from massage through to yoga with their babies. There is a natural follow-on from massage into yoga as the babies become more active, and enjoy exploring movement and balance in a safe and exciting way with their parent/caregiver. Classes are very baby focused and include lots of songs and rhymes to help keep the babies interest.

In addition Mary holds an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage and in Indian Head Massage, and has a qualification in Hopi Ear Candling following training with Mary Dalgleish from the UK based Hands on Training.

She joined the Board of Baby Massage Ireland (the Irish Chapter of the IAIM) in 2010, and is presently acting in the position of Irish International Chapter Representative.
