Foot massage is a simple way to relax the body and mind. Believe it or not, our feet contain greater than 7,000 nerves, and by gently massaging them we can release stress, relieve anxiety and induce deep relaxation in the whole body.
· First your feet are soaked in warm water infused with relaxing and soothing essential oils.
· Then, when they are dry, you will be asked to lie comfortably on your back and the therapist will apply oil or cream to your feet.
· Beginning with the ankle and working up along the foot, the therapist will use a mixture of soothing and gently stimulating massage techniques to induce optimum function of the muscles around the ankle, feet and toes.
· You will then be asked to turn over onto your stomach and the soles and heel of your feet will receive attention.
When we walk, our muscles have a tendency to migrate from the heels towards the toes, and the gentle techniques used in the foot massage will encourage them to move back towards the heel. So not only will the foot massage leave you feeling de-stressed and relaxed, your feet will also feel more comfortable when you are walking.
