WHAT IS AYURVEDIC MASSAGE?

Ayurvedic massage is highly praised and recommended as a daily practice. As people follow the daily practice of eating and sleeping, so should they receive massage to help expel waste materials from the body. Ayurvedic massage is an ancient Indian healing art which recognises that each of us is unique, each responds differently to the many aspects of life, and each possesses different strengths and weaknesses.  The style and flow of Ayurvedic massage is determined by who you are and what your body needs for balance and well-being. Ayurvedic medicine is based on the theory that health exists when there is a balance between three doshas or personality types called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The type of touch, warm oil and herbs used in massage are directly dependent upon your constitution.

WHAT CAN IT TREAT?

Ayurvedic massage is good for detoxifying and cleansing the body, boosting the effectiveness of the immune system, calming the emotions, reducing stress, and helping those with medical conditions improve their overall well-being. Other benefits include improved circulation, reduction of muscle tension, better sleep, increased flexibility and pain relief.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A TREATMENT?

Prior to the massage, I will determine your prominent dosha or constitution. Once this is established, I am able to design the style of massage that would best benefit you. The length of an Ayurvedic massage treatment varies based on the type of treatment requested. A full body Ayurvedic massage lasts one hour while a head, back, foot or face massage can last 30-45 minutes.
